Southern Europe vs northern Europe
The north–south gap is mostly rent and utilities: southern cities save on heating and housing but pay for it with lower local salaries. Northern and western capitals cost more each month yet often leave more over after rent for people on remote or tech contracts.
For a remote worker paid outside the local market, the cheapest cities on this list give the biggest gain. For someone taking a local contract, check the tech pay column against the monthly budget before deciding.
